World & Today: Two Turkish citizens detained over Poland Starlink sabotage

Following a joint operation by German and Polish security forces, two Turkish citizens suspected of setting fire to a Starlink satellite communication station in Poland have been detained. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk described the September attack as an act of hybrid warfare, stating that the suspects will stand trial in Poland. Authorities leading the investigation noted that the attack aimed to disable the station and disrupt internet access for various institutions, including the Ukrainian military. Polish officials stated that there are indications pointing towards Russia’s new military doctrine behind the attack. Hybrid warfare methods aim to destabilize opponents using non-military tools such as cyberattacks, sabotage, and disinformation rather than direct military confrontation. Experts warn that such actions increasingly threaten international infrastructure security.
